CPB-SPB and Bam Morcha protest price hike


CPB-SPB and Bam Morcha have protested in front of the secretariat on 12th December to cancel the power price hike and to reduce the price of daily necessaries including rice, onion and pepper. Besides, sit-in programs have been held in front of every district commissioner office and memorandums have been sent to the Prime Minister through the district commissioners. In Faridpur, police obstruct to send the memorandum. Revolutionary Workers Party general secretary Saiful Huq presided over the gathering in front of the National Press Club before the protest rally. They also pledged to continue the movement until the cancelation of power price hike. Expressing anger over power supplier companies’ fraudulence over taking the extra price from November, they said that the government has increased the price from 1st December; but the companies are cheating the people and taking the extra price from November. The leaders said that the government had come to power pledging to provide rice at Tk 10 per KG. In 2nd term they came to power without any vote. They snatched the voting right of the people. Now they are killing the people by selling rice at Tk 70 per KG. This government is helping the market syndicate to loot thousands of

crore Taka by increasing the price and funding their election costs. The progressive leaders called upon the people to form mass upsurge against the price hike and corruption of this government. Police obstructed the protest rally when it was going towards the secretariat. CPB-SPB and Bam Morcha activists broke the barricades and took position there. CPB's Assistant General Secretary Sazzad Jahir Chandan, SPB (Marxist) leader Zahirul Islam and Ganasamhati Anodolon leader Bacchu Bhuiyan spoke at the gathering in front of the secretariat. They condemned police attack in the protest across the country. Next program Next 27th December (Wednesday), gathering in front of Bangladesh Bank office and its' branch offices to protest the looting of directors and businessmen in banks and financial institutions.
