The leaders of the CPB-SPB and Ganatantrik Bam Morcha called countrymen and party activists to organize effective resistance against communal forces to stop attack on religious minorities. A demonstration and procession were organized by them in front of the National Press Club on November 11, 2017 against planned attack, arson and torture on Hindus due to so called false accusations of contempt of religion at Thakurpara in Pagla Pir of Rangpur sadar Upazila.
Presided by Ganatantrik Bam Morcha Coordinator and Revolutionary Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque, the central leader of SPB (Marxist) Shuvrangshu Chakraborty, CPB presidium member Shahin Rahman, Chief Coordinator of Ganasamhati Andolon Zonayed Saki, SPB Central leader Rajekuzzaman Ratan also spoke on the demonstration. CPB presidium member Abdullah al Kafee Ratan conducted the rally.
They said that none of the ethnic and religious minorities are safe from these attacks. Like the indigenous people of hills and planes, the Bengali Hindus, Buddhists, Christians are becoming the victims of these attacks. These attacks are being done directly by the culprits backed by ruling party. These attacks are organized by creating religious frenzy using the microphones of religious institutions. Both the civil and police administration gave the opportunity to happen these incidents. We saw these in Ramu, Nasirnagar. In Govindaganj, the police force torched the houses of the indigenous people.
The leaders also said that there were political and economic interests behind these attacks. The main goal of the terrorists is to compel the minorities to be evicted from the lands and grab these lands. On the other hand, attacks are conducted to make the minority people insecure and turn them into a 'vote bank'.
Leftist leaders have appealed to the minority community saying communists are always with them. Under any circumstances, the CPB-SPB and Ganatantrik Bam Morcha activists will resist the communal attacking forces.
They also urged the CPB-SPB and Ganatantrik Bam Morcha activists and the countrymen to create 'effective prevention' to counter the terrorists and communal forces.
At the end of the rally, a procession marched streets of Topkhana road and Paltan.
